4. Intellectual Property
All content on the Site — articles, text, headlines, edits, original graphics, logos, page design, code and the compilation of the Site as a whole — is owned by or licensed to Smart House Core and is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. “Smart House Core” and our logo are our trademarks.
What you may do: read the Site; quote a short excerpt (a few sentences or a single paragraph) with clear attribution to Smart House Core and a working link to the original article; share links on social media; print or save a copy for your own personal, non-commercial use.
What you may not do: republish an article in full or in substantial part; translate, adapt or create derivative works from our content for publication; remove or alter copyright notices or author credits; use our content or branding in a way that suggests we endorse you, your product or your service; use our content commercially without written permission.
Requests for permission, syndication or licensing: contact@smarthousecore.com.
5. Third-Party Content, Trademarks and Images
Product names, brand names, logos and trademarks mentioned on the Site (for example Amazon Alexa, Google Nest, Apple HomeKit, Samsung SmartThings, Philips Hue, Zigbee, Matter, Thread) belong to their respective owners. We refer to them for identification, review and commentary only. Their use does not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship by or endorsement from those companies.
Some images on the Site come from third-party libraries (for example stock-photo services) or are used under a licence, with credit or attribution where required. If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, see Section 6.
6. Your Comments and Other User Content
Comments are enabled on some articles and may be opened or closed at any time at our discretion. [Commenting is currently closed on the published articles — keep this section anyway: it covers contact-form messages, emails and guest-post pitches too, and it will already be in place if you switch comments on.] You are responsible for everything you submit — comments, contact-form messages, guest-post pitches, emails and any other material (“User Content”).
Ownership. You keep ownership of your User Content. We do not claim copyright in it.
Licence to us. By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable licence to store, reproduce, display, distribute and adapt that content in connection with operating and promoting the Site. This licence ends when you or we delete the content, except for copies kept in backups, caches or legal records.
Your promises. You confirm that you own or have the necessary rights to your User Content; that it is accurate; and that it does not infringe anyone’s rights or break any law.
Moderation. We are not obliged to publish or keep any User Content. We may edit (for example to fix formatting or remove links), move, or delete any comment at any time, without notice, if we consider it spam, off-topic, abusive, unlawful, misleading, promotional, or a risk to the Site or to other readers. Comments may be held for manual approval or filtered automatically by anti-spam tools.
No confidentiality. Do not send us confidential information or trade secrets through comments, the contact form or email. Anything you send may be published, and we may use ideas or suggestions you send us without obligation or payment to you.
Copyright complaints (DMCA). If you believe material on the Site infringes your copyright, email contact@smarthousecore.com with: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) the exact URL of the allegedly infringing material; (c) your name, address, phone number and email; (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised; (e) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner; and (f) your physical or electronic signature. We will remove or disable access to material that we determine, in good faith, to be infringing, and may notify the uploader.
7. Newsletter and Communications
If you subscribe to our newsletter, you consent to receive periodic emails about new articles, guides and site updates. We use a third-party email service to send them, and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can unsubscribe at any time; we keep a short suppression record so that we do not email you again. Newsletter use of your data is described in our Privacy and Cookie Policy.
If you email us or use the contact form, we may reply to you at the address you provided.
8. AI-Assisted Content
Some articles on the Site are drafted with the help of AI tools and then reviewed and edited before publication. We also use AI-assisted tools for research support, outlining, image sourcing and proofreading. We aim to check facts, links and product details before publishing, and we correct errors when readers report them (contact@smarthousecore.com). Even so, AI-assisted content can contain mistakes, outdated details or statements that do not fit your particular setup — treat all content as general information, not as professional advice (see Section 9).
9. Safety, Electrical Work and Professional Advice — Important
Our content is general information and education only. It is not professional, electrical, engineering, legal, medical or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional who can inspect your home.
Smart home devices often involve:
- Mains electricity — wiring, switches, sockets, breakers, hardwired doorbells, thermostats and lighting circuits;
- Gas and heating systems — smart thermostats, boilers and zoned heating;
- Batteries — lithium batteries in cameras, vacuums, doorbells and power tools, with fire and overheating risks;
- Water — leak sensors, smart valves and irrigation;
- Locks and security — smart locks, alarms and cameras, with real consequences for safety and insurance.
Never attempt work on mains wiring, gas appliances or anything else that requires a licensed tradesperson in your jurisdiction. In many countries, DIY electrical work is illegal, can void your home insurance, and can cause fire, electrocution or death. Where a guide describes such a task, it is provided so you understand the work and can talk to a professional about it — not as an instruction to do it yourself.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, respect your local building codes and regulations (including planning rules for cameras, doorbells and alarms), check that your insurance covers the work, and use appropriate protective equipment. You are solely responsible for how you apply anything you read here.
10. Reviews, Recommendations and Product Information
We write about products we consider interesting, useful or worth avoiding. Our opinions are our own and may change over time.
- Accuracy. Specifications, prices, availability, app features, subscription requirements and compatibility change frequently and are often set by the manufacturer. Details on the Site are accurate to the best of our knowledge at the time of writing, but they may be out of date or wrong. Always confirm details with the manufacturer or retailer before buying.
- No endorsement or guarantee. A mention or positive review is not a guarantee that a product will work in your home, with your hub, your Wi-Fi or your existing devices. We do not test every feature of every product, and we do not warrant any product.
- Availability and regional differences. Products, models and features vary by country. A device available where we are may not be available or certified where you are.
- Prices. Any price shown is indicative and may change. We are not responsible for pricing or listing errors by third parties.
11. Third-Party Links, Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure
Links. The Site contains links to third-party websites (manufacturers, retailers, documentation, standards bodies, forums and other publishers). Those sites are not under our control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, security or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Accessing them is at your own risk and subject to their own terms.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy and Cookie Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use cookies and analytics, how long we keep data, and your rights. It forms part of these Terms by reference.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site and all content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, title and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that: the Site will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free; defects will be corrected; the Site or its servers are free of viruses or harmful components; or that any content is accurate, complete, current or suitable for your situation. You use the Site and rely on its content at your own risk.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Smart House Core and its owners, writers, contributors, contractors and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, devices, property or use, arising out of or in connection with:
- your use of, or inability to use, the Site;
- any reliance on content published on the Site, including setup, wiring or automation instructions;
- damage to devices, property, data or systems, or personal injury, resulting from following our content;
- third-party websites, products, services or links; or
- unauthorised access to, or alteration of, your transmissions or data.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the Site will not exceed USD 100.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Smart House Core and its owners, writers, contributors and service providers from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs and reasonable legal fees arising from: your breach of these Terms; your User Content; your violation of any law or third-party right; or your misuse of the Site or of any information obtained from it.
16. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to the Site (including commenting or newsletter features) at any time, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or that your use creates a risk of harm or legal exposure for us or for others. You may stop using the Site at any time.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Intellectual Property, Your Comments and Other User Content, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification and Governing Law — will continue to apply.
17. Changes to the Site and to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features, new services or changes in the law. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change, and material changes will be highlighted on this page or announced on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the Site.
18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Algeria / M’sila, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The courts of M’sila, Algeria have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms.
Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country in which you live, or of your right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be settled by binding arbitration in [location], on an individual basis. You and we each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.” Check that this is enforceable in your jurisdiction before adding it.
Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us at contact@smarthousecore.com so we can try to resolve the matter informally.
19. Miscellaneous
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will stay in full force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy and Cookie Policy and any notices published on the Site, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site.
- Assignment. We may assign or transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms. You may not assign yours without our written consent.
- No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms do not create rights for anyone other than you and us.
- Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
